Understanding the Dynamics of Cell-Based Assays
Thursday, November 13, 2008, 9:00 AM Eastern Time (ET)

Cell-based assays have become a critical component in the arsenal of techniques available to today’s scientist. Knowing the type of assay to be used is only the first step in a series of steps to successfully run a cell-based assay. Understanding the microenvironment in which the cells will grow and be asked to perform a physiologic task is also important to the success of the assay. In this live, on-line seminar, we will discuss the various steps involved in setting up a cell based assay including:

  • Choosing the appropriate microplate for your assay
  • Understanding the importance of cell density, medium and passage number
  • Choosing the appropriate instrumentation for your assay
  • Introduction to Corning’s Compatibility Guide

Speaker: Mark Rothenberg, Ph.D.

Mark Rothenberg, Ph.D.,is an Application Scientist at Corning Life Sciences and has over twenty years of experience in assay development. He received his doctorate from Emory University in the area of Cell and Developmental biology. Before joining Corning, he worked as a senior scientist in two firms in the area metabolic disease.

We hope you will join us for this exclusive event.
